Panda 4.2 Update Begins To Roll Out- Finally!

By piranha

7th August 2015

Internet users all over the world have been eagerly awaiting the Panda 4.2 update, which was first announced several months ago. Google have recently begun rolling out the new algorithm, which will reward and punish websites depending on the quality of their content.

The algorithm will also be paying particular attention to the originality of your content, how well it is written and the quality of keywords used.

For those who didn’t notice the new update, you aren’t the only ones! Google has said that it could take many months to roll out fully and even longer before it affects search engine rankings.

A spokesperson for Google said “This past weekend we began a Panda update that will roll out over the coming months. As you know, we’re always working to improve Google so search results are higher quality and more relevant for everyone and this is just one way we do that.”

The company has also said that Panda 4.2 will affect about 2-3% of English language queries.

If your business was penalised by the previous Panda update, you should have made changes to your site over the past couple of months to avoid further punishment.

As the update is being rolled out over several months, rather than a few days like the previous algorithms, website owners may find that pages of their website are affected differently. For example, pages that are targeted by the Panda 4.2 may be impacted at different times throughout the update, because it is taking so long to rollout.

Panda is just one of the 200+ signals that are taken into account when ranking websites in search engines. This means that if your site hasn’t met the standards of the new update, you won’t necessarily notice that much of a difference.

To find out whether your website has been affected, you will need to keep an eye on your analytics over the next few months. If you see a significant drop in traffic, then you have probably been penalised by Google’s latest algorithm.

If you want to make sure that your website is always compliant with the latest updates, Piranha Solutions can help! We can design, build and manage your company website, as well as creating quality content for your site. Please call 01772 888 331 or email to find out more.
