Instagram Now Lets You Reshare Posts in Your Stories

Have you ever really liked someone’s Instagram post, whether it was delicious food or your bestie’s new outfit, and wanted to show others? Well, the platform’s newest feature may be of interest to you!

The photo-sharing app, which has 800 million active monthly users, now allows you to reshare someone’s post in your Stories.

Before now, if you wanted to use other people’s posts you would had to use unofficial methods, like screenshotting the post of using 3rd party resharing apps.

At the moment, you can only reshare posts on your Stories and cannot do this on your Newsfeed posts.

In a blog post, Instagram said: “When you come across something in feed that inspires you — like a post from a friend raising money for a cause or a photo of a new design from your favourite brand — you can now quickly share that post as a sticker to your story for your friends and followers to see.”

“All posts shared to stories display the original poster’s username. When you see a post in someone’s story, you can tap it to check out the original post and see more from the person who created it.”

To use this feature, you need to click on the paper plane icon that appears next to the comment and like icons on a post.

You will then get the option to share it as a Story or direct message it to one of your friends.

If you choose to share the post in a Story, the person who’s post you are sharing will be tagged in the post and therefore will be able to see that you have reshared it.

You can also add your own text, stickers, GIFs and drawings, giving it a personal touch.

If an account is private, unfortunately you won’t be able to share their post. However, if it’s set to public you can share away!

Instagram has been testing this feature for several months and it is now available to all Android and iOS users, providing they have updated their software.

Will you be resharing posts on Instagram? Let us know your thoughts on Facebook or Twitter!
