Instagram sharing Stories onto Facebook – Will it Work?

In an attempt to increase the popularity of Stories, Facebook has begun testing a new feature that allows you to share your Instagram Stories directly to Facebook.

Since it was launched earlier this year, Facebook Stories has struggled to gain popularity. However, the same feature on Instagram is proving to be a success.

The platforms, which are both owned by Facebook, hope that by allowing users to post Stories on both Instagram and Facebook simultaneously, they will convince more users to start using the feature.

Once the new featured is rolled out, users will be given the option to share their photos and videos on the two social media platforms at the same time. Currently, users are required to log in to each app separately if they want to share content to Stories.

One good thing about this is that you won’t need to spend time swapping between the apps, instead you can do it all in one place. But on the other hand, if you aren’t using the feature, like many of us aren’t, you wouldn’t need to anyway!

It will be interesting to see how users respond to the latest move, as up until now the apps have stayed mostly separate. It doesn’t come as a complete surprise though, as Facebook has been pushing Stories on every other platform that they have available, including its main app, Messenger and WhatsApp.

Both companies are keeping fairly quiet about the feature but in a statement, Instagram did say; “We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you. We have no other plans to share at this time.”

At the moment, the feature is only available to a select number of users and there is no set date for when we can expect to see it on our screens. However, Facebook and Instagram are usually fast in rolling out new features so we shouldn’t be waiting too long.

Will you be cross posting your Stories on the platforms? Let us know your thoughts on Facebook or Twitter!
