Amazon glitch leaves many users out of pocket

Many Amazon sellers have recently been hit by a software glitch, which reduced their products to just 1p. The problem occurred during the hours of 7pm and 8 pm, on Friday the 12th December.

RepricerExpress is popular with Amazon users who want to compete with other sellers. It promises to provide ‘superfast repricing which allows all sellers to aim for higher positions in the offer listings pages.’

The error meant that a number of sellers are facing a loss, with some people even having thousands of pounds worth of orders being made.

Small businesses and independent sellers are the ones who have been hit most by this system fault. Christmas is the busiest times of year for these types of sellers, so the glitch has come at the worst possible time.

Although Amazon managed to cancel many of the orders, there are still some which are still processing. As of yet, there has been no comment as to whether the affected users will need to honour their sales.

Amazon has commented on the recent events, saying “we are aware that a number of Marketplace sellers listed incorrect prices for a short period of time as a result of the third party software they use to price their items on’

‘We responded quickly and were able to cancel the vast majority of orders placed on these affected items immediately and no costs or fees will be incurred by sellers for these cancelled orders.

“We are now reviewing the small number of orders that were processed and will be reaching out to any affected sellers directly.”

All eyes are now on Amazon to see how they are going to help those sellers who have been hit by this system fault.
